Dear Visitor,

We are excited that you have decided to check us out.  Here is a little bit about who we are.

Godcenteredworship.com is an online community of worshipers that seeks to magnify the supremacy of God and the transforming power of the gospel by participating in online discipleship through blogging and discussion.

Since our desire is to become God-centered worshipers, let’s just consider three fundamental aspects to what a God-centered worshiper actually is.

1. A God-centered worshiper views the supremacy of God as his utmost treasure.

“I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other.”–Isaiah 42:8

The ultimate goal of everything that God does is to magnify His own supreme glory.  His supremacy is what He treasures the most.  And as such, His supremacy should be our treasure as well.

In a blogging age when arguing over who is right seems to be the utmost treasure, our treasure is to humbly explore the glory of God together.  This is a place where the Person and Work of God is valued above all in every article and forum discussion.

2.  A God-centered worshiper views the gospel as His utmost motivation.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”–Romans 12:1

There are only two ways that God can deal with humanity–one is through judgment, and the other is through His just mercy and grace that He gives us through the gospel. Therefore, for those of us whom God has chosen to elect by grace in the gospel, our only hope is in the gospel.  And as a result, it is our only motivation as well.

Bob Kauflin of Sovereign Grace Ministries once said, “We may have been musicians before we were Christians, but God’s choosing us in Christ long preceeded our decision to become musicians. Therefore, as musicians, our greatest need is not the study of music, but the study of the gospel–because the cross must motivate, define, and give direction to the way we use our music.”

The same quote can be used in the context of online blogging and discussion.  Just as musicians, our greatest need is not the study of hot topics or relevent issues, but the study of the gospel.  Thus, at Godcenteredworship.com, “the cross must motivate, define, and give direction to the way we use our” blogging and discussions.

3. A God-centered worshiper views worship as His utmost calling.

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”–1 Corinthians 10:31

Because the glory of God is our utmost treasure, and the gospel is our utmost motivation, worship must naturally be our utmost calling.

In her book entitled Out Of the Saltshaker, Rebecca Pippert says, “Whatever controls us is our lord. The person who seeks power is controlled by power. The person who seeks acceptance is controlled by the people he or she wants to please.  We do not control ourselves. We are controlled by the lord of our lives.”

In other words, whatever controls you is what you worship.  You are controlled by what you treasure and are motivated by the most in any given moment.  Thus, since our desire is that the glory of God be our treasure, and the gospel our motivaiton, we view every blog article and discussion group as an opportunity for worship.  And this worship opportunity is meant, not to boost our own egos, but to magnify the One that we treasure out of hearts that are grateful to the One Who has chosen by grace to deal with us through the gospel.

We hope that you will join our online community as well.  And we pray that God will use Godcenteredworship.com for years to come to be an encouraging online worshiping opportunity for personal edification.

worshiping Him,
